About the Museum of Writing Instruments

Our founder’s aunt, born in 1899, started saving unsharpened pencils from places she visited. Writing instruments were small souvenirs, readily available, and inexpensive. Guests noticed her large clear vase of pencils — friends and family started contributing to her hobby and soon she had a collection of over 2,000 writing instruments. Her family felt the writing instrument artifacts should be preserved, so the museum was founded.

Currently the Museum of Writing Instruments operates as the only student run museum in the world.

The Museum of Writing Instruments is a non-profit organization.
